IVCIL plans 11th annual teen summit
The Illinois Valley Center for Independent Living plans its 11th annual Teen Summit from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, at Illinois Valley Community College Room C-316.
The Teen Summit is for teens who have a disability and are between the ages of 13 and 21 who are still in high school or 2011 graduates. This includes any student with an individualized education program or 504 plan from La Salle, Bureau, Putnam, Marshall or Stark counties.
This is an all-day conference for teens to provide an educational and empowering opportunity to equip them with skills toward transition into adult life after high school. This year's theme, "Mission Transition: Prepare for Blastoff to Life After High School," is designed to foster skills in the core transition areas of education, employment, training and independent living/community participation. This event is free to the participants who will receive a T-shirt, lunch and other gifts.
