The Valor Games Midwest is an introductory adaptive sports competition for veterans and service members with physical and visual disabilities.
The posted information is shared from World Sport Chicago website.
First hosted by World Sport Chicago in 2011, the inaugural event was a partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Chicago Park District and U.S. Paralympics to promote healthy, active lifestyles as a part of successful community reintegration and overall life satisfaction of veterans and service members with any disability rating from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The Valor Games Midwest has expanded to become part of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs National Events.
Starting in 2016, the Valor Games Midwest will be transitioned and integrated into the year-long Veteran programming of the Chicago Park District. The Chicago Park District’s Special Recreation programs for people with disabilities offers year-round programs and services for Veterans at parks throughout Chicago and coordinates with disability sports organizations and special recreation associations to provide regional services.
Hosted by the Chicago Park District, the 2016 event will take place August 23-24, 2016 and is open to any individual with a disability rating from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs including amputation, spinal cord injuries, visual impairment, traumatic brain injury, permanent orthopedic injuries, and those with post-traumatic stress disorder
