PEORIA -- Area police officers are taking action Special Olympics Illinois.
For hours Friday, they're standing on top of Dunkin' Donuts restaurants to raise awareness and money for their annual Torch Run. The money will benefit people with disabilities.
"We've had a very good response. Everybody that donates, we give them a coupon for a free donut and for a $10 donation, they get a coffee mug and a coupon so they can fill up that coffee mug, and we've gone through almost a case of them already today," said Trooper Dustin Pierce with Illinois State Police.
Hundreds of police officers from across the state participated in the event along with 116 Dunkin' Donut restaurants.
