DETROIT, MI - WXYZ Channel 7 anchor Stephen Clark is on a personal mission to save his young granddaughter Scarlet. She suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). Now, Jimmy Kimmel is helping in the fight.
SMA is the number one genetic killer of children. There is no cure, no treatment and there is very little public awareness of the disease. (see Scarlet's story below)
Late night host Jimmy Kimmel has taken to YouTube to help "smash" SMA. He wants you to smash something as well and make a donation at curesma.org. Kimmel then wants you to challenge someone else to smash SMA.
After Kimmel smashed a few items, he challenged three people from Southeast Michigan, Los Angeles Clippers owner and Detroit native Steve Ballmer, Romeo native Kid Rock, and actress Kristen Bell who was born in Huntington Woods.
