The goal of the campaign is to build public and legislative support for the closure of the Murray Developmental Center. The next step in the campaign is participation at a public hearing in early October. The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board has scheduled a public hearing on the closure of Murray on: October 9, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Centralia.

Murray Developmental Center, Centralia In accordance with the requirements of the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Act, notice is given of receipt to discontinue an Intermediate Care Facility for the Developmentally Disabled (ICF-DD). Project 13-058, Warren G. Murray Developmental Center, Centralia. Applicants: Warren G. Murray Developmental Center and The Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Developmental Disabilities. The applicants propose to discontinue the 372-bed ICF-DD facility, located at 1535 West McCord Street, Centralia. Project cost: $0. A public hearing will take place pursuant to 20 ILCS 3960. The hearing is scheduled for 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2013. It will be held at the Centralia City Hall, located at 222 South Poplar, Centralia, IL 62801. Sign-in for this hearing will be conducted from 3:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The Public Hearing will be conducted by staff of the Health Facilities and Services Review Board pursuant to the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Act. The hearing is open to the public and will afford an opportunity for parties with interest to present written and/or verbal comment relevant to the project. All allegations or assertions should be relevant to the need for the proposed project and be supported with two copies of documentation or materials that are printed or typed on paper, size 8 ½ “ by 11”.
