Disability Mentoring Day activities
Disability Mentoring Day (DMD) is observed every third Wednesday of October in celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month. DMD is a program that connects students and job seekers with disabilities to thousands of mentors each year. To raise awareness and generate excitement for this event, AAPD is posting career tips on LinkedIn all throughout the month of October. To see all the career tips and connect with us on LinkedIn, please click here.
This year, AAPD will host a local DMD launch event in partnership with Accenture on Wednesday, October 16th. The half day program hosted in Ballston, VA will provide students an opportunity to learn first-hand from Accenture employees about different work experiences through two mentoring sessions. Accenture is a management consulting, technology services, and outsourcing company with clients in the public and private sector. College and high school students can sign up by emailing aabosedra@aapd.com. The event will be live tweeted @AAPD. For more information, please click here.
AAPD is currently seeking volunteer DMD coordinators to build partnerships with various members of their local communities and create events that serve as an introduction to the workplace for many people with disabilities. For more information, please click here. To sign up to be a DMD coordinator, please click here.
