From Marca Bristo
President and CEO, Access Living
President of U.S. International Council on Disability (USICD)
Friends:
Please take 10 minutes TODAY to make calls in support of 1 billion people with disabilities around the world. Last year the U.S. Senate fell 5 votes short of ratifying the UN CRPD due to a well-funded campaign of misinformation intended to frighten homeschool families into believing the treaty would infringe upon their rights to homeschool their children. While this is simply not true, they are back again this year and have mobilized over 100 calls a day to the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. We need your help to show that people with disabilities and our allies want this treaty ratified and that we are greater in number than the opposition. It's up to us!!! In the words of the late Justin Dart Jr., the grandfather of the ADA, "The eyes of the world are watching…failure is not an option!” Please call and tweet the Senators in the list below!!
Thank you so much.
Marca Bristo

NATIONAL CALL-IN FOR THE CRPD
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
The opposition is flooding Senate offices with calls against the Disability Treaty!
Senators Menendez and Corker and our target senators on the Foreign Relations Committee need to hear from YOU and know that you support the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities!
We need YOU to call on November 4th and 11th so we can show the Foreign Relations Committee that the community is behind this treaty! (Or, if you are enthused, please proceed to call every day. Even on weekends and evenings you can leave messages via Senators’ voice mail.)
Visit our new citizen action portal,www.disabilitytreaty.
Click the “We Support CRPD” icon above! Share it everywhere! Post it on your website, Facebook, and Twitter! Link the icon to http://disabilitytreaty.org. Senators need to hear from our movement NOW or we will not succeed.
Forward this message onto your lists of friends and colleagues so they can join us in sending a message to the Foreign Relations Committee that we are watching them! Re-blog this and tweet it everywhere! Copy/paste it to your Facebook timeline and share to any Facebook or LinkedIn groups you think are relevant. Thank you for your help!
