The Americans with Disabilities Act and other similar civil rights laws are purposefully broad to include protections for a diverse population of people with disabilities. How do these laws apply to d/Deaf specific issues? How can d/Deaf people utilize these laws to their fullest capacity to protect their right to equal opportunity? What should service providers know when it comes to serving d/Deaf individuals? The Great Lakes ADA Center is hosting this wonderful event!

Call for Volunteers!
The Great Lakes ADA Center's Deaf Rights Symposium is looking for volunteers to help with the symposium. Volunteers do NOT need to have any ASL experience prior. We will need volunteers for a variety of needs such as assistance with registration, room moderators, runners, general information support team and more. All are welcome to apply by completing the Volunteer Form.
Scope of Conference
This conference provides education and professional development to providers and consumers working with and navigating the rights of d/Deaf persons toward effective communication and equitable participation in society. The conference will focus on issues of access and equitable treatment in the areas of:
- Arts and Culture;
- Employment;
- Government Services;
- High Education;
- Healthcare;
- Judicial and Law Enforcement;
- Professional Services (Legal, Financial, etc)
