The new medical marijuana program in Illinois is looking for health professionals and patients to serve on an advisory board.
The 15-member board will make recommendations about which medical conditions can be added to the list of those approved for medical marijuana use in the state.
Board members will be appointed by the governor. There is no compensation other than expenses.
Only patients with certain medical problems can apply for ID cards to use medical marijuana. But the new law allows the public to petition to add medical conditions to the list. The board will review the petitions, hold public hearings and make a written report based on experience and evidence-based medical research.

Welcome to the website for the Illinois Medical Cannabis Pilot Program ("MCPP"). The MCPP implementation process formally begins January 1, 2014, on the Effective Date of the law.
WARNING
Members of the public should be aware that full implementation of MCPP will take time. The State of Illinois is warning that it will not be legal for anyone to grow, offer to provide, or to possess, medical cannabis until licenses have been issued and the program is up and running. Illinois will be working diligently to create a transparent and thorough process to ensure access to medical cannabis for qualified individuals. This website will be the central location for implementation updates, draft and final administrative rules, application forms, FAQ's, press releases, and other materials. The State of Illinois is also collecting general comments and suggestions regarding the Pilot Program here.
