Chicago CTA Accessibility Information for the Clark/Division Rail Station - Summer 2014

as shared by CTA, Amy J. Serpe, Manager, ADA Compliance Programs

July 2014 -- This station reconstruction is a CDOT project.  There is now elevator access to the station at the SE corner of LaSalle and Division.  (The entrance faces LaSalle Street.)  There is an elevator that goes from street level to the mezzanine level.  This is where the fare media machines, fare gate, Customer Assistance Call Buttons and Customer Service Kiosk is located. There is a second elevator that goes from the Mezzanine to the platform.  Customer Assistance Call Buttons and gap fillers are available.

Please note that CDOT will be continuing to work on this station for several more months.  Currently, the entrance at Clark and Division is closed as the stairways and escalators are being replaced and additional work is being done to the platform.

During the continued reconstruction, there will be times that access will be limited, such as very narrow passages from the platform to the train.  This is more of an issue for people with disabilities who are coming into the station.

Therefore, during the remainder of the construction period, I am recommending the following:

·        If coming into the station on a NORTHBOUND train (going towards Howard), sit in the first train car and you will be near the elevator when you get off the train.
·        If coming into this station on a SOUTHBOUND train, (going towards 95th Street), sit in the last car and you will be near the elevator when you get off the train.
Please note that the above are only recommendations that you may wish to follow through the remainder of construction.

When all work is complete, this station will be accessible to people with disabilities and will be designated as such on our Website and in printed materials.  The CTA apologizes for any inconvenience to our customers.
