Kane County residents voted against a 0.1 percent property tax that would have generated about $12 million annually to fund services for the developmentally disabled.
With all precincts reporting, 63.8 percent voted no on the proposal Tuesday, according to unofficial totals from the clerk's office and the Aurora Elections Commission.
The money would have been distributed by an appointed disability board — known as a 377 board — to agencies that support independent living, jobs, therapy, transportation and supportive care for those with developmental disabilities.
