2014 City of Chicago Festival & Special Event Highlights

Chicago's  festival dates for 2014 have been announced by the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events. In addition to the marquee festival dates and highlights listed, there are several neighborhood festivals held throughout the spring-fall. Following are the 2014 festival/event highlights, including the popular St. Patrick's Day Parade, Chicago Blues Festival, Taste of Chicago, the Air & Water Show and more.
2014 Festival/Event Highlights - Dates Subject to Change
Snow Days Chicago is at Gateway Park at Navy Pier on Feb. 8-9. The artists begin to create snow sculptures out of 10 foot blocks of snow on Wed., Feb. 5.
City of Chicago 177th Birthday is on March 4.
Chicago's St. Patrick's Day Parade and the dyeing of the Chicago River is held on Sat., Mar. 15. The river is dyed green at 10 a.m. and the parade steps off at Grant Park (Balboa and Columbus) at noon. Chicago River turns green for Irish St. Patrick's celebration
The Chicago Flower & Garden Show is at Festival Hall at Navy Pier from Mar. 15-23.
The 16th Annual Chicago Kids and Kites Festival is a family friendly day of fun and kite-flying at Montrose Harbor on May 3.
Chicago's Memorial Day Parade (State St. from Lake St. to Van Buren) is a patriotic event on May 24.
The 31st Annual Chicago Blues Festival is a musical celebration of Blues music at Grant Park June 13-15.
Chicago Bike Week is held Citywide June 13-20, with the Bike to Work Rally held at Daley Plaza on June 20.
Chicago's Summer Film Series is at Millennium Park on Tuesdays from June 24 – Aug. 26.
The 29th Chicago Gospel Music Festival is at Chicago Cultural Center and Ellis Park June 27-29.
18th Annual Chicago SummerDance (dance lessons and live music) is at Grant Park June 27 – Sept. 14.
Chicago Sidewalk Sale (shopping event showcasing local designers) is at Daley Plaza July 22-23.
Made in Chicago: World Class Jazz is at Millennium Park on Thursdays from July 24 – Aug.28
The 56th Annual Chicago Air and Water Show presented by Shell Oil Products US North Avenue Beach Aug. 16-17.
36th Annual Chicago Jazz Festival is a celebration of jazz music at Millennium Park Aug. 28-31
16th Annual World Music Festival Chicago is at Millennium Park, Chicago Cultural Center and citywide Sept.11-21.
Chicago Cultural Center and Storefront Theater October 19th Annual Chicago Artists Month Citywide Oct, 1-31.
Great Chicago Fire Festival produced by Redmoon in partnership with City of Chicago and held at the Chicago River and citywide Oct. 3-4.
Halloween Celebration Chicago Cultural Center Late October.
McCormick Tribune Ice Rink is open for ice skating at Millennium Park Nov. 14 – March 7, 2015.
Chicago's annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is at Daley Plaza on Nov. 25. Santa House, a Christmas tradition for kids and families, is open at Daley Plaza during the holidays from Nov. 25 – Dec. 24.Christmas and holidays celebrated at Daley Plaza in Chicago
Christmas Caroling at Cloud Gate at Millennium Park is on Fridays from Nov. 28 – Dec. 19.
