Title: Development Assistant to the Executive Director
Summary:   Disability Rights International (DRI) is a Washington, DC based human rights advocacy organization dedicated to promoting the human rights and full participation in society of children and adults with disabilities worldwide. www.disabilityrightsintl.org
DRI is seeking a person who is passionate, sharp and engaging. You need to be an excellent communicator and writer, a quick study, organized but flexible, creative, outgoing and friendly and one who has never uttered the words “that is not in my job description” when asked to pitch in at the workplace. Must be available for occasional travel. Prior experience in fundraising/development/writing a plus.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Executive Director  with communications to major donors, foundations, board members and government officials;
  • Assist the Executive Director  with scheduling external meetings, travel and speaking engagements;
  • Lead the drafting of occasional e-blasts and press releases;
  • Provide donor and prospect research for both individuals and foundations and draft Letters of Inquiry;
  • Assist in grant writing and grant reporting;
  • Maintain an up-to-date database of donors and potential donors and contacts;
  • Organize and maintain all development records and files including application and reporting deadlines;
  • Confirm and process receipt of donations and write letters of thanks;
  • Assist with the annual appeal letter, fundraising events, receptions and meetings.

Compensation: Salary range is $35,000 to $45,000 depending on experience. Generous benefits package. DRI office one block from the Metro.
