MACOMB — The Family Violence Coordinating Council (FVCC) and collaborative members of the 9th Judicial District will host an "Understanding and Serving People and Victims with Disabilities" workshop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 1 at the Spoon River College Outreach Center, MidAmerica National Bank Conference Hall, Macomb.
The workshop will feature guest speakers Shirley Paceley of Blue Tower Training Center and Nicki Bazer, chief of the Disability Rights Bureau at the Illinois Attorney General's Office. Paceley has worked with people and victims with disabilities for 38 years and speaks nationwide. Bazer has worked with tenants in public and subsidized housing and serves as a lecturer at Northwestern University.
This interactive program focuses on communication and legal issues. The workshop is free, and pre-registration is required by April 20. Professionals, employers, and community members are encouraged to attend. Professional credit for victim advocates, social workers, counselors, nurses, educators, attorneys, and law enforcement is offered for this workshop.
