Settlement Agreement in Illinois for Voters Rights of People with Disabilities

Equip for Equality has made a major advancement for voters with disabilities in Bureau County and across the state.
Title III of the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) requires that polling locations are accessible to individuals with disabilities and provides for an administrative process for filing complaints.
After two Bureau County voters experienced accessibility problems in violation of Title III of HAVA, they filed complaints through EFE. A settlement agreement was reached that contains provisions to help ensure the accessibility of future elections there.
EFE feels this settlement strengthens voting rights for people with disabilities not only in Bureau County, but across the state.
